About Me

Surabhi Khanal, a Kathmandu-born, Nepali American from Virginia, is a passionate advocate for social justice and gender equality whose work spans humanitarian philanthropy, media, pageantry, and entrepreneurship.

A graduate of Emory University with a degree in chemistry, Khanal is currently pursuing a Master's in Data Science at Harvard University.

In 2016, Khanal founded MedLove and the Save Our Stars Foundation, which spearheads awareness campaigns on gender-based violence in Nepal. Her "MedLove Clinic" project, in collaboration with the Lions Club, established an HIV/AIDS clinic serving rural Nepal. Building on this advocacy work, she debuted two television programs in 2017, MedLove Talks and Social Justice with Surabhi, on MHz Networks / Fox 5 Plus.

Khanal was crowned Miss Nepal US in 2019, also earning titles for "Miss Photogenic" and "Miss Beauty Without a Limit." That same year, she was recognized as a Forbes 30 Under 30 Scholar. In 2020, she was nominated for the L'Oréal Women of Worth award and placed in the Top 16 at Miss Universe Nepal. In 2021, she was awarded the Presidential Volunteer Service Award (Bronze) under the Biden administration, and by 2022 had taken 162 actions with Global Citizen to defeat poverty, demand equity, and defend the planet.

In 2023, Khanal was crowned Miss World Virginia of the Miss World America pageant. She made her New York Fashion Week debut in 2024 at hiTechMODA Production Season 11, and in 2025 was recognized as Glamour Magazine's Woman of the Year for global advocacy and gender equality.

Professionally, Khanal serves as CEO of Netnova.io, an SEO/GEO marketing company, and conducts research for government entities and agencies. Her personal interests include poetry, social media, and advocacy for mental health awareness, particularly through her support for therapy and those facing anxiety.
